New Years Resolutions Book Tag

FullSizeRender

January is a month that is filled with content looking back on 2017, and looking forward to 2018, and today I decided to continue with this theme by doing the New Years Resolutions Book Tag. I wasn’t actually tagged to do this, but I saw this on Lia @ Lost in a Story‘s blog, and I thought it looked like a lot of fun – you can read her tag here!

Naughty or Nice Tag (bookish edition!)

I wrote my answers to this tag a few days ago, however only just realised now that I have not posted it – and as this is a Christmas-related tag, I figured this would be my last chance to do so before next year. Thank you so much to Emily, blogger at Always Opinionated Girl, for tagging me to do this – you can read her own post here! In this tag, I will be confessing whether I have committed any of these ‘bookish sins’ to determine whether I have been naughty or nice this year!

Received an ARC and not reviewed it ✓

I have a couple of ARCs that I was sent and have yet to read, but once I have read them, I will definitely review them. Additionally, I have my wonderful ARC haul from YALC that I will take me a while to get through, but I do intend to review all of them eventually as well!

Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley ✓

I made my Netgalley account over the summer, and I haven’t used it at all –  I requested a number of books when I joined, but none of them were accepted, and I have plenty of physical books to read, so unfortunately by Netgalley account has been quite neglected. However, I was approved to read and review Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls, which I have not read yet, and so I suspect my feedback rating is very low!

Rated a book on GoodReads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did) ✗

When filling out the ‘review’ section for a book I have read on GoodReads, I usually do one of three things: I give my actual rating, and mini review highlighting what I did and didn’t like, which generally means I won’t be reviewing it on my blog; I give my rating out of five, and leave it at that, or I give my rating and simply put ‘review to come’. If I have done the last one, an full review on my blog follows after, and I then paste a preview of that review into GoodReads. Whichever option I choose much depends on the genre of the book, when it was published, and how strong my feelings about it were.

Currently Reading Book Tag

It’s been a while since I last did a tag, but this one caught my eye on Emily’s blog A Cup of Wittea – I think these are really interesting questions to ask to get to know somebody’s reading habits! On reflection, I’ve realised that I actually spend most of my reading time in bed, and this has made me acknowledge how little time I’ve left for reading recently (which I can hopefully now rectify!).

My current read, Lying About Last Summer. Verdict so far: I’m only about thirty pages through, and its very promising!

How many books do you usually read at once?

Usually only one – occasionally I’ll be reading two at once, but that’s only when I have one for school, and one for fun. I prefer to focus on one book at a time, especially since I’ll probably be enjoying one book more than another.

If you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?

If I’m reading two at once, that would suggest that I’m not feeling super invested in either, so generally it is just when I feel exhausted of the other book that I read the next one for a little while. Normally, when I say I’m reading two at a time, I’m mostly reading one, and have maybe gotten a couple of chapters into another.

Blogger Recognition Award

bloggerecog

I was nominated by both Kate and Jess to do this award – I have been wanting to do this for a while, because it’s such a nice blog. You simply share the story of how you started your blog, and then give some advice to new bloggers – it’s perfect for reflecting on your own blogging, as well as getting involved with your fellow bloggers!

RULES

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them & provide the link to the post you created.

Rapid Fire Book Tag

Today I am taking part in another book tag – this is one my sister Jess did over on her blog, Bookends and Endings, and although she did not tag anyone, I thought it looked like a lot of fun! The point of this tag is that there are lots of questions, but the answers are short and to the point, which I think will be quite refreshing (especially as I think I tend to waffle on a bit sometimes, accidentally). So on with the tag!
